In 1942, German troops that captured the Burgas airport, significantly improved its infrastructure, which allowed to take heavy aircraft, as well as electrified the airport, which allowed to receive aircraft, including at night.

Despite the fact that World War II ended in 9145 year, Burgas airport began its civilian activity only in 1947 when the first flight from Sofia was made here and if initially the air harbor was used exclusively for domestic flights, then already in 50 - 60-ies the route network of Burgas airport was increased to 5 route directions, and in the same period, the modernization of the air harbor began.

In the 70-ies of the last century, the Burgas airport was given the status of an international air harbor, which led to a significant increase in the route network - according to the data for this period, Bourgas was connected to 45 by various cities in Europe.
