Novosibirsk Tolmachevo International Airport is among the five largest airports in Russia. It is located at a distance of 17 kilometers from the city center. Tolmachevo Airport was opened in the year 1957. It is considered the main air "transit point" for the aircraft performing a flight from Asia to Europe. Tolmachevo airport is the base for the Russian airline S7 Airlines.

History

1.July 12, 1957 is the day the airport became operational. A scheduled Tu-104 with 50 passengers on board departed from Tolmachevo to Moscow. Until that moment, "Tolmachevo" was a military airfield. 

2. In November 63, an air terminal with a capacity of 1 passengers per hour was put into operation. 

3. In 1972, the airport handled 1 million passengers.

4. In 92, the united squadron was divided into three enterprises: Zapsibaeronavigatsia, Tolmachevo Airport, and Siberia Airlines. In September, the airport was given international status.

5. In December 1995, the airport was transformed into an open joint-stock company, 51% of the shares were transferred to federal ownership.

6. In 97, an international terminal (450 passengers / hour), a station square and 4 new parking areas for Il-76 aircraft were put into operation.

7. In 2002 Tolmachevo airport was the first in the Russian Federation to receive a quality certificate in accordance with GOST. 

8. In 2004, the airport development concept was approved. The construction of the terminal expansion block has begun.

9. In 2006 we put into use the arrivals block for internal lines. Tele-ladders appeared.

10. On September 25, 2010 the second runway was commissioned. A year later, Tolmachevo became the second airport in the Russian Federation to receive a certificate for receiving Airbus A380 aircraft.

11. In November 2011, Russia's first largest commercial aircraft, the Boeing 747-8, landed at the airport.

12. In 2012, the airport welcomed its first three millionth passenger.

Airport controls JSC "Airport Tolmachevo", the main shareholder of which is LLC "Novaport" and the state. In 2011, the "Federal Property Management Agency" has sold part of the company "Complex Aeroservis."

On the territory of the Novosibirsk International Airport is located just two terminals:

• 1) Terminal A.
