In the middle of 90-s, although there were problems with passenger traffic and the increase in prices for transportation, it was still possible to avoid bankruptcy and the closure of the Ulan-Ude air gate. In 2001, the company was divided into several independent companies. 

To improve the efficiency of servicing and receiving more aircraft at the Ulan-Ude Baikal airport, a modern runway restoration was carried out. A modern landing signal system was installed, which makes it possible to receive aircraft even in poor meteorological conditions. The name "Baikal" was given to the international airport of Ulan-Ude only in 2008.

Since the beginning of the summer of 2010, regular air traffic has been established between Ulan Bator and Ulan-Ude. It is worth noting that the airport was fully purchased in May 2011 by the company Metropol. This allowed to expand the geography of flights from the airport "Ulan-Ude Baikal". Thus, in October 2011, the first passenger flight to Bangkok was carried out. In the summer of 2012, new regular transportations of passengers to Beijing, Cam Ranh, Antalya were opened.
