Airports in Antarctica

 

 

Antarctica has about 40 airports, but they all have an icy runway. Some are international such as Teniente Marsh Airport, Amundsen - Scott, Wilkins, Pegasus Field and a few others. The airport of Novolazarevskaya station is the main transport hub of the DROMLAN network, an international airport, one of the best in Antarctica - with a strip that is capable of receiving Boeings. At the same time, it is the only airport in Antarctica that is certified. Flights are operated by an IL76 aircraft by the Russian airline ALCI, from Cape Town International Airport, as part of the Dronning Maud Land Air Network (DROMLAN) project.
