Bell 212. A photo. Characteristics. History.

Bell 212 is a twin-engine multipurpose helicopter, analogue of Bell 204/205.

Bell 212 - multipurpose helicopter with the presence of two engines. It is a variant of the helicopter Bell 204 / 205. This air machine created an American company "Bell Textron helicopter" directly to the Canadian Armed Forces. For the first time an air unit took to the skies in April 29 1965 years. Under the contract, the Canadian Air Force handed over 70 units where they renamed CH-135. The supply of helicopters began in May 1971 years. US Department of Defense has ordered 294 instance (American Bell-212S renamed UH-1N).

Bell 212

In 1971 in the city of Fort Worth have launched full-scale production, and later it was transferred to Mirabel, Canada. The size, structure and composition of the equipment is very similar to a helicopter model Bell 204 / 205, but had a significant advantage in terms of reliability due to the installation of an additional motor. Bell 212 able to perform horizontal flight failure of one engine.

Modification of 212-is as follows: to increase the entire volume of the cabin and extended nose cone, thanks to the number of passengers increased. In January 72, the helicopter was certified, for which he was permitted to make flying directly over the instrument, making it more competitive. Many companies and businesses needed a helicopter for more effective implementation of geological exploration, logging, maintenance of drilling offshore platforms and more.

Bell 212

In June, the 1977 Bell 212 was the first of all the American helicopters, which has received a certificate confirming the possibility of piloting the instrument over the sea, the crew in this case can consist of a single pilot. In February, two years 9 cars bought in China for industrial purposes. And it is this type of helicopter was the first sold in America, Communist China.

Buildings helicopter since 1952 years intensively involved the Italian company "Agusta". Previously it has licensed. Naturally, they also started serial production of 212-th. But, in contrast to the American style, the Italian assembly staged motors Canadian production firm "Pratt and Whitney» - PT6T-3 TurboTwin-Pac. Also, it was renamed Agusta Bell AB-212. It is created by a different staffing levels, because first of all pay attention to the destination of the helicopter and the personal wishes of the customer. Italian AB-212 1971 began to build in the autumn of the year.

Bell 212

AB-212 piloted by one pilot. In an embodiment, the base model of the helicopter main purpose is the carriage of no more than 14 people at a time. But the highlight was the fact that it is easy to modify or stall for other purposes, even for VIP-transport. This air unit can be mounted at any optional equipment: fuel tanks, winches, floats, tap to foreign transportation of goods, ski gear and much more. Sanitary modification of the helicopter was capable of carrying 6 injured on stretchers and two medical orderlies.

Bell 212

Using the experience of modifying the Bell helicopter, Italian engineers developed a special version for the modification of ASV / ASW, the main purpose of which was active combat against submarines, surface ships and search and rescue operations. These modified AV-212 were mainly located on destroyers and frigates. In 1973, AB-212ASW entered trial tests in the Italian Navy, and in 1976, serial models appeared. There were seven customers for this model, a total of about one hundred machines were built, and the biggest customer in the amount of 60 units was the Italian naval forces themselves.

Bell 212

The anti-submarine "Bell" included in its equipment a radar search station with a rotating antenna above the cabin. With the system, the radar itself was automatically connected, which allowed the supply of a continuous image of the tactical situation. There was an identification system "own-alien", radio-electronic counteraction station and radio technical intelligence. The main element of anti-submarine defense - sonar, which could be used at a depth of up to 137 m. During the hydroacoustic search for an enemy submarine, the helicopter could be held at any point of hovering. This became possible thanks to the automatic control system. From the weaponry, an air vehicle could use 2 anti-submarine homing torpedoes Mk-46 or 2 deep-water bombs. It could also carry two AS-12 ASW rockets.

But the story does not end at the helicopter Bell 212. He served as the base for the "Bell-412», which first took to the skies in August 1979 years. These phones have left a big mark in the history of the helicopter, as they are often exploited in various military conflicts, combat drug trafficking and to fulfill the tasks set by NATO and the UN.
