The first attempts to start development of the ultra-light aircraft B&F Fk9 date back to the early 80s of the last century, while German aircraft manufacturers several times redesigned the aircraft design from scratch, thereby changing the appearance of the aircraft and adapting its characteristics to more acceptable ones. In view of all these factors, the B&F Fk9 made its first flight only at the beginning of 1989, having entered serial production almost immediately after that.

Despite the extremely long development of small-engine aircraft, the German aircraft manufacturers managed to create a truly popular aircraft, which, despite its modest size, is popular on four continents - in just 9 years of production, with 1989 on 2008 year, it was built 376 aircraft devices of this model, including modified versions.

The B&F Fk9 model can accommodate only two people, while the aircraft itself is not capable of carrying any cargo, however, the maximum flight range of this aircraft is about a thousand kilometers, which in turn is more than acceptable, given the actual type aircraft.

The B&F Fk9 aircraft uses a Rotax 912UL piston-type aircraft engine as a power plant, thanks to its four working cylinders, it is possible to develop a thrust power of 80 hp, which is quite small, however, in turn, it provides the aircraft with a maximum flight speed of 242 km / h ... The power plant is highly reliable and, as a rule, does not cause problems and unnecessary financial costs for maintenance.
