Boeing 727, it trimotored narrow-body passenger aircraft, destined for the airlines short- and medium-range missiles. This plane was designed by the company «Boeing Commercial Airplanes», primarily for use on domestic US flights. Versatility, reliability and the ability to use a relatively short runways at smaller airports, Boeing 727 made one of the most popular and successful medium-haul aircraft in the world.

Work on the draft medium-haul aircraft, the company «Boeing», began in 1956 year. The project received the designation Model 727. In 1959 was approved the final design and construction of aircraft.

Boeing 727, received the form of a monoplane with a low swept wing, three turbojet engines located in the rear fuselage and a "T" -shaped tail, also having a swept shape. Since the aircraft was supposed to be used on small runways, advanced wing mechanization with three-slotted Kruger flaps was applied on it. This design allows the aircraft to remain stable at low flight speeds, for example, when landing. The passenger cabin of the airliner was capable of accommodating 131 passenger seats in two classes. Initially, the aircraft used a power plant of three Pratt & Whitney JT8D-1 engines, each with a thrust of 59,9 kN. But then the Pratt & Whitney JT8D-7 motors with a thrust of 62,3 kN were used.

Boeing 727 also became the first aircraft company «Boeing» installed auxiliary power unit (APU). On Boeing 727 it was applied Avionics and production companies «Honeywell» and «Rockwell Collins» with electromechanical dashboard.

The first modification of the aircraft received the designation Boeing 727-100. A test version of the plane rose into the air in February 9 1963 years. In December of the same year it was received US FAA Certificate of Airworthiness. 9 February first production commercial airplane Boeing 727-100 entered the airline «Eastern Airlines».

In addition to the passenger version, cargo versions were produced - Boeing 727-100F and Boeing 727-100C, as well as a convertible cargo-passenger version of the Boeing 727-100QC (Quick Change).

The development of the Boeing 727-100 led in August 1965 to the creation of an extended version of the aircraft, called the Boeing 727-200. The length of the aircraft increased to 46,69 meters. The number of passenger seats in a two-class configuration has increased to 145 passenger seats. This version was equipped with Pratt & Whitney JT8D-9 motors with a thrust of 64 kN.

The first flight of the Boeing 727-200 took place on July 27, 1967. And on December 14, 1967, this aircraft made its first commercial flight. Just like the Boeing 727-100 models, the Boeing 727-200 has a cargo and a convertible version - Boeing 727-200F and Boeing 727-200QC, respectively.

On the basis of the Boeing 727-200, the Boeing 727-200 Advanced version was produced, which has a flight range increased to 4000 kilometers. This version is powered by Pratt & Whitney JT8D-17R engines with 77 kN thrust.

The production of aircraft of the Boeing 727-100 version was discontinued in 1973.

The release of the remaining models continued until 1984. A total of 1832 Boeing 727 aircraft were built over the entire production period.

To date, there are about 200 Boeing 727 aircraft in operation. The remaining aircraft are mainly used in the cargo transportation market.
