bomb racks

Bomb racks - a device for hanging bombs on aircraft. Bombs hung under the fuselage, under the wings, or the use of their location inside the fuselage, in the so-called cassettes.
When the bombs are located outside, the air resistance to the movement of the aircraft increases and, as a result, its speed decreases. External suspension is used on aircraft with a tight interior space (reconnaissance vehicles, light bomb carriers), as well as for very large bombs, the dimensions of which do not allow placing bombs inside the cabins.

With this and other arrangement, the placement of the discharged cargo relative to the longitudinal axis of the aircraft must be symmetrical and, if possible, close to the cross section passing through the center of gravity of the apparatus. Under the fuselage, larger bombs are suspended, others under the wings. Depending on the number of bombs on which bomb racks are designed, they can be either single or group. A single bomb holder is a tubular or Taurus metal beam attached to the wing or fuselage wing members at 2-3 locations using brackets and garters.

Several of these beams joined in common bracket and arranged parallel to each other and to the longitudinal axis of the aircraft bomb racks form a group. Each beam has a lock, the hook is suspended from his bomb ring or eyelet screwed to the body bomb. On either side of the lock, front and rear, on the beam fixed tongs, serving stops the front and the rear of the bombs and prevent its oscillation motion of the aircraft.

To prevent chickenpox by unscrewing the fuse air jet airplane in flight, hinged on the beam strengthened safety plate or U-shaped wire plug at the closed castle plays the role of "the stick that is inserted into the wheel," and dismissed chickenpox when falling bombs. Castle bomb racks should, when fixing it abalone bomb or suspended its rings to ensure against inadvertent opening and Drop bombs and trouble-free release of its action in the case of the castle by means of a drive release gear.
