The development of an unmanned aerial vehicle intended for military needs was carried out by Belarusian scientists and design engineers based on a civilian unmanned aerial vehicle of the Burevestnik model, which significantly reduced the cost of the project, as well as the timing of its implementation. In fact, an unmanned aerial vehicle of the Petrel MB model is an independent combat unit capable of delivering precise strikes against enemy positions, for which the drone is armed with several missiles capable of causing serious damage to both enemy manpower and armored vehicles.

For drone Petrel MB higher flight-technical qualities, design and technical equipment of the unmanned aerial vehicle has received a number of improvements that raised the maximum take-off weight of the UAV to 250 kg, it increased the maximum speed of the flight, as well as the effective range of applications.

The first flight tests of an unmanned aerial Petrel model MB unit has been exposed to 2016 year, and due to the fact that the device has produced the desired effect and successfully cope with the task, the project began to prepare for the beginning of its production. It is assumed that in addition to the delivery of unmanned aerial vehicles into service of the Belarusian army is also possible export drones to other countries and states.

Belarusian drone MB Petrel is equipped with electro-optical and infrared cameras, that allows you to receive objective information about the study area and locations of the enemy position.

Powerplant drone Petrel MB is represented by one piston engine, the Rotax, which at its facilities in 65 hp, can accelerate the UAV to a maximum airspeed in 250 km \ h.
