Canada / United Kingdom

A type: Single-engine training aircraft

Crew: Two pilots are arranged one behind the other

The first aircraft, developed by the company "De Havilland Keneda» (de Havilland Canada - DHC), the plane "Chipmank» (Chipmunk - Chip) was established immediately after World War II to replace the aging aircraft "Tiger Moth" as the initial aircraft training. Equipped with a tried and "Gipsy Major" company "De Havilland" the first copies of "Chipmank" proven engine aircraft piloting was only partially (this deficiency was soon rectified). The aircraft has been ordered by the Royal Canadian Air Force into production under the designation T 1.

DHC company actually built 218 "Chipmank" aircraft of this modification, including military aircraft for Egypt, Chile and Thailand. After installing a new engine "Gypsy Major" 10 aircraft received in the Royal Air Force of Canada designation T 2. Based on the results of flight tests in the UK, the Aviation Ministry issued 8 / 48 Specification for the purchase of 735 Chipmunk T 10 aircraft, which were then transferred to virtually all RAF training units. English aircraft Chipmunk differed in that they were able to perform all the figures of aerobatics, had a moving light from several panels instead of a single one. The "Gypsy Major" 8 engine was also replaced with an earlier specification engine.

In addition to these aircraft, the RAF set (as well as the Army Air Force and Navy), the British company "De Havilland» UK 217 also built aircraft for export, even 60 copies were built by 0GMA by license in Portugal. Now they are all removed from the role of the military educational and training aircraft. The Royal Air Force and the Army Air Force finally sent their latest items (almost 100 10 aircraft T) to "retire" in 1996 year, many of them appeared in the civil register of the UK and abroad.
