On September 26, 2014, Elena Serova will fly to the ISS as a flight engineer as part of the new crew.

She will become the second MAI graduate to have been in space - the second after Svetlana Savitskaya herself. Elena Serova was born on April 22, 1976 in the Primorsky Territory, and in March 2001 she received a diploma from the Moscow Aviation Institute with a degree in engineer. Now Elena is preparing for the launch at Baikonur, in the company of fellow cosmonauts, commander Alexander Samokutyaev and American astronaut Barry Wilmore. She will take a small souvenir into orbit - the flag of the Aviation Institute, whose diploma gave her a ticket to space. Elena is very kind to her native MAI, because he played a huge role in her life and career. And the girl wishes the young Maievites success and perseverance in achieving their goals.
