The 170 Embraer (Embraer 170) is the smallest representative of the Embraer type aircraft, designed by the same name Brazilian aircraft manufacturer in the 2000s. The aircraft was intended for use on lightly loaded medium-haul lines. In addition to the basic version, there is also an Embraer 170LR version with longer range.

Regional aircraft with turbofan engines (TVD) at the beginning of the 90-x began to push significantly jets. For comfort, which was supplied to passengers by turboprop aircraft, it was necessary to add greater speed to compete with jet aircraft, which were used on medium-haul routes. Yet, a real revolution in the construction of such aircraft took place in 1992, when the Canadian group presented Bombardier their fifty local CRJ100. Soon, the Brazilian company Embraer, which was able to outrun Canadian competitors by the number of orders, burst into the market.

Embraer is the fourth largest civil aircraft manufacturer in the world by number of personnel (after Airbus, Boeing and Canadian Bombardier) and third by number of aircraft under construction each year (after Airbus and Boeing). Experts assess the breakthrough of Embraer’s local aircraft market as an unexpected, but logical and clear success for Brazilian aircraft builders.

ERJ170 - passenger mid-range aircraft for regional air lines, developed by the Brazilian company Embraer. Embraer EJet is a type of narrow-body, twin-engine, medium-range passenger aircraft. It includes four modifications: E175, E170, E195 and E190. The EJet includes local Embraer 175, 170, 195 and 190 aircraft that are designed to carry 70-110 passengers.

A better design, better technical characteristics, operational efficiency, spacious cabin and a low level of emissions of pollutants are the main distinguishing characteristics of the aircraft. The generality of constructs such as "EJet" makes it possible to significantly reduce the cost of spare parts, the costs of purchasing machines and training staff as well as the cost of repairs and maintenance. 170-I model is designed to 70-80 passengers, the type and make Embraer175 (78-84 passengers), Embraer190 (98passazhirov) and Embraer195 (108passazhirov).

The aircraft is a new development of the Embraer company in the class with enhanced passenger capacity in comparison with the ERJ135 / 140 / 145 aircraft. The following companies took part in designing the aircraft: Honeywell (Primus Epic Avionics), General Electric (CF348Е10E turbofan engines), Hamilton Sundstrand (tail design), Latecoere, Kawasaki, Gamesa, Liebherr, Sonaca (different fuselage elements), Parker Hannifin (fuel elements), and hydrodynamics). In 1999, Embraer introduced a new program for the construction of civilian aircraft of the E170190 type, which are designed for 70-118 passengers.

The aircraft was first introduced to 11.02.1999 and shown at 1999 at the aviation show in Paris. The first flight took place 09.02.2002. Serial production started in 2002 year. The release of the seventy local ERJ2003 model in 170 marked the birth of the next type of commercial airliners - meeting the requirements of aviation lines of national importance and more spacious ones. The price of the aircraft is 21 million dollars. 17.03.2004 made the first E170 commercial flight in Warsaw.
