Krasnoyarsk Emelyanovo International Airport - the largest and most important airport in Eastern and Central Siberia. It is located at a distance of 27 kilometers north-west of the center of Krasnoyarsk. The airport has great importance in the air transport carried out within the territory of the Russian Federation.

Emelyanovo is one of the major bases of the Russian Emergencies Ministry aircraft. Therefore, it is considered the airport co-location.

At the airport terminal there are two:

• Terminal 1.

Designed to serve domestic flights.

• Terminal 2.

Serves international air transportation.

The airport "Krasnoyarsk Yemelyanovo" can be considered quite young, since its construction was started only in 1970. Operation of the airport began in 1980. The first flight was accepted on 25.10.1980/62/XNUMX. It was a flight from Moscow on an Il-XNUMX plane. Despite the opening and servicing of flights, the airport continued to expand and build. It should be noted that the main task of the airport was to create a modern air gate that could receive new supersonic aircraft.  

The development plans of the airport on 1980-1982 year was the use of passenger aircraft Tu-144. This was to significantly expand the geography of flights. But the plans have not been translated into reality. The main problem was the decline of passenger traffic. But still we received IL-62.

The modern phase began with the opening of a new passenger terminal in 2005 year. This has greatly improved customer service "Krasnoyarsk Emelyanovo."

Over the 5 years, starting from the 2001 year, runway repairs were carried out in the summer. Due to this, it was possible to replace the coating with a more reliable asphalt concrete with additional reinforcement. 

In 2008, the replacement of the signaling system on the runway was carried out. Due to the carried-out modernizations it was succeeded to receive the second category on ICAO. For persistence in the development of the airport "Krasnoyarsk Emelyanovo" was marked in 2009 year as the most purposeful and actively developing airport. Similar marks were obtained in 2010 and 2011 year. 

In 2012, Krasnoyarsk Emelyanovo was awarded the title “Great Contribution to the Development of Production” among passenger airports of the Russian Federation, which have a passenger turnover of more than one million per year. 

Autumn 2013 was completed reconstruction of the cargo terminal of the airport. This has increased the number of accepted transfer of pallets.

In 2014 year held an intermediate service cargo airliners such as Boeing 777, which belong to the airline Lufthansa.

As you know, Krasnoyarsk Airport has two stages of its development. The first began from the moment of the creation of the first airfield and before the construction of the new air terminal complex outside the city limits in the 70s. 

For all the time a large number of accidents were recorded. The first crash happened to the Pe-2 in the 1943 year. The car was landing, but losing speed, fell into an uncontrolled corkscrew. The fall occurred from a height of 100 meters. As a result of a collision with the ground, the device burned down, and the crew died. In the same year, a similar situation occurred with the Li-2. 

The next incident occurred in 1968 with a passenger aircraft of the Il-18D type. The problem was oil leaking from one of the engines. Due to this, the crew decided to make an emergency landing on four working engines in Krasnoyarsk. Poor meteorological conditions and the rapid descent of the car led to the fact that the landing was made before reaching the runway. A strong impact from the ground destroyed the apparatus. All passengers were saved, some were injured. 

Another accident occurred in 1972 with the Yak-40. After separation from the runway, the flaps of the car were transferred to critical angles of attack. This provoked the plane to fall to the left side. Touching the runway wing, it spun and slightly damaged. It is worth noting that the main factor in the accident was the icing of control mechanisms. All the people on board remained alive. 

23.11.1984, the Tu-154 type aircraft with passengers on board took off from the Krasnoyarsk Emelyanovo lane. After that, one of the engines caught fire. It was decided to return to the airport, but the car did not fly 5 kilometers to the runway and crashed near the village of Elovo. As a result of the crash, only one passenger survived. 

The last terrible disaster associated with the airport "Krasnoyarsk Emelyanovo" was the crash of the An-12 transport plane in November 1998. Due to the very difficult meteorological conditions and snowfall, the car became very icy. After takeoff, the situation worsened, which led to the fall of the vehicle in 9 kilometers from the airport. As a result of the collision with the ground, all 13 people on board were killed.
