Buildings SUAE

SUAI students study in buildings that are architectural monuments. The Chesme palace, the first building of the university and the Chesme church, standing next to it, were laid down at the request of Empress Catherine II in honor of the victory in the Battle of Chesme by the Russian army in 1770. And in the main building of the university - the building located on Bolshaya Morskaya - from the middle of the nineteenth century to 1918, the barracks of the Life Guards Horse Regiment were located.

Scientific work

SUAI is one of the Russian scientific and educational centers, in which the process of student learning is inextricably linked with applied and fundamental scientific research. Postgraduates and students, along with teachers, are actively involved in the scientific work of the university. Every year, a scientific student conference and an exhibition of technical and scientific creativity of students are held at the higher educational institution. For more than sixty years, it has been operating at the SSS (student scientific society). The SUAI student scientific conference has an international status: in 2011 more than seven hundred students from Russia and other countries took part in it. Training of personnel of the highest scientific qualifications is carried out through postgraduate studies, doctoral studies and competition.

The time of full-time postgraduate study is three years, part-time - four years. The scientific guidance of graduate students is carried out by professors, doctors of sciences. The dissertation councils are actively engaged in their activities, dissertations are regularly defended. In addition, about twenty-five percent of the total number of teachers are under 30-35 years old - all this suggests that both teaching and research have a future. It has already become routine for the university to defend doctoral dissertations by graduate students under 35 years of age.
