The airline "Georgian Airways" was established in the year 1993. Another name Airzena. Originally performed charter flights to the United Arab Emirates, China, Italy, Egypt, Syria and India. Regular flights have begun in 1997 year and performed in Vienna (Austria). At that time, we operate the aircraft Ilyushin - 62M.

In 1999 the airline acquired the status of a national carrier of Georgia. In August 5 years later it was renamed Airzena "Georgian Airlines" and often used the Tu-134 planes. And the previous name remains as a short logo on the aircraft. The name change was connected with the fact that the former can not be combined with Georgia, so it was difficult for Western countries recognized the passengers.

At the beginning of 2000, the airline management decided that it was necessary to begin modernization of the air fleet and additionally rent an 2 737-500 aircraft from Germany's Hapag-Lioyd airline. It was she who became the first Georgian airline to use modern aircraft technology. In 2002, the Russian Federation banned the movement of all Georgian airlines to the airspace at night. Because of this, "Georgian Airlines" suffered heavy damage. And in the period from October to November of the following year, her office refused to attend the Vnukovo airport in Russia.

Today "Georgian Airlines" - it is completely private airline, which has a modern air fleet - Boeing and 737 of CRJ, namely:

  3. CRJ 100 - 1 aircraft;
  4. CRJ 200 - 3 aircraft.

As of mid-2015, the airline operates flights on the following routes: Asia - Tel Aviv (Israel), Yerevan (Armenia), Batumi and Tbilisi (Georgia); Europe - Vienna (Austria), Russia, Paris (France), Amsterdam (Netherlands), Moscow, Samara, Vladikavkaz, St. Petersburg (Russia), Odessa (Ukraine).

In April 2011 the aircraft Bombardier CRJ100 Airlines shuttle flight to the Congo, crashed into the ground. 4 29 crew members and passengers were killed.
