CrewOne pilot / two pilots, arranged side by side on a double training aircraft

The most successful of the postwar British fighters, the Hunter (Hunter), has gained popularity both in the export market and in the Royal Air Force. Built according to the Technical Requirements of F.4 / 48, this jet aircraft could reach supersonic speeds in a shallow dive and was as maneuverable as any other jet fighter of that period. The first 139 serial aircraft modification F 1 were transferred to the Command of Fighter Aviation in the middle of 1953, followed in the same year by 45 improved F 2 aircraft (with Sampire engines of the company Amstrong Siddly).

These early Hunter aircraft were notable for unreliable engines, especially when firing Aden cannons, but gas problems in the air intake were overcome on modifications of the F 4 (built 365 copies), F 5 (built 105 copies) and F 6 (built 383 instance). The power of Avon jet engines (and Sapphire on the F 5 modification) was constantly increasing with each new version, and by the time the FGA 9 modification was introduced, designed to carry out strikes against ground targets, the Evon 207 engine from Rolls “Royce” already had a pull of 45,12 kN. In addition, aerodynamics was improved due to the appearance on the plane, starting with the F 6 modification, a wing with an increased chord and a canine-type ledge on its leading edge.

More radical was the modification of T 7 - training aircraft, based at F4. The first of these planes flew in October 1957 years. Last, 1985-th aircraft "Hunter" was assembled in 1966 year. Also sent to the export 429 new aircraft "Hunter" more 700 copies updated and delivered to the Air Force in seventeen countries around the globe. In 1988, the very small number of them remained on active service in Zimbabwe.
