IL-76 (by NATO code: Candid - "direct, sincere") - Russian and Soviet military transport heavy aircraft, which was developed by the design bureau of Ilyushin. Serially manufactured in Uzbekistan, at the Tashkent Aviation Production Association them. V.P. Chkalov.

IL-76 is designed for landing personnel and transportation, cargo and equipment for different purposes. It is the first in the history of the Soviet Union military transport aircraft with turbojet engines. For the convenience of unloading and loading, the rear hoists can be pushed beyond the ramp threshold on the 5 m. The cargo compartment has rolling table tracks, which allows loading, unloading and landing of non-self-propelled mono-loads.

The power plant consists of four turbojet engines suspended on pylons under the wing. In the first production versions, the engines D-30KP, thrust 12000 kgf were installed. These engines enable the aircraft to fly in the 260 — 850 km / h speed range, which provides, on the one hand, convenient conditions for airborne landing, and on the other, greater speed at flight level.
