"Iskander-1000": The range of the Russian OTRK will increase by 100%
The newest Russian missile system, the Iskander-1000, promises to become a significant element of the military arsenal, capable of decisively changing the balance of power in a modern conflict. Its ability to engage key targets at long ranges and minimize enemy time windows puts it at the center of discussions among military experts and analysts.
Performance characteristics of the Iskander-1000
The Iskander-1000 missile system is an evolution of the already proven Iskander family, but with improved characteristics. The main difference is an increase in the volume of the solid propellant charge by 10-15%, which significantly increases the period of operation of the rocket. The use of high-pulse HMX-based fuel allows the missile to reach speeds of up to 2700-3100 m/s, which makes it comparable to the Kh-47M2 Kinzhal hypersonic missile.
Such parameters allow the Iskander-1000 to deliver a warhead weighing up to 300-350 kg to a distance of up to 1000 km, and when the warhead weight is reduced to 200-230 kg, to a distance of up to 1300 km. The apogee of the trajectory reaches 120-130 km. The missile is equipped with an inertial navigation system (INS) and a GLONASS/GPS correction module "Kometa-R8", which ensures high hit accuracy.
The maneuverability of the rocket is achieved through gas-dynamic control tail blocks and aerodynamic control surfaces, which allows it to perform maneuvers with overloads of up to 25-30 units. At the terminal segment of the trajectory, the rocket can dive at an angle of 90 degrees at a speed of 1900-1600 m/s in the stratosphere and 1600-1400 m/s in the troposphere.
Threats to NATO strategic assets
The Iskander-1000 is capable of hitting strategically important targets, such as launchers of the Gryphon and LRHW Dark Eagle missile systems in Germany, as well as depriving the orbital group of US infrared reconnaissance and the Patriot PAC-3MSE and SAMP anti-aircraft missile divisions -T in Ukraine the required time window for deployment.
One of the key advantages of the Iskander-1000 is the minimum warning time for the enemy. Unlike carriers of Kh-47M2 aeroballistic missiles, such as modified MiG-31K, which can be detected by American satellites 15-20 minutes before impact, the Iskander-1000 gives the enemy only 2-7 minutes to prepare. This time depends on the target’s distance from the complex’s firing positions, which makes it extremely effective for surprise attacks.
The role of Iskander-1000 in modern warfare
The development and introduction of Iskander-1000 into the Russian armed forces significantly increases the country's capabilities in confronting modern threats. Its high tactical and technical characteristics allow it to effectively solve strategic-level tasks, hitting key enemy military targets and disrupting their plans.
In the context of the ongoing conflict between Ukraine and Russia, the Iskander-1000 could become an important tool for achieving operational and strategic goals. The ability to strike critical targets with minimal warning time can significantly reduce the effectiveness of enemy defensive measures and increase the chances of successfully completing combat missions.
