In the 1974, the Ministry of Civil Aviation of the Soviet Union decided to train pilots at the Yak-40 aircraft in the flight school of Buguruslan.

In the 1975 year, a new aerodrome “Buguruslan-Severny” was launched with an artificial runway sized 2200 × 45 m (the maximum take-off weight of the aircraft was one hundred tons), which was built eight kilometers to the north-west from the beginning Buguruslan town near the village of Karpovka.

From the school in 1970 — 1980, annually graduates were graduated 550 — 650. The maximum number of graduate pilots from the school is registered in 1972 year - 864 people, in 1978 year - 636, in 1984 year - 410, in 1991 year - 307, in 1997 - 100. In 2000 Yak-60, the planes were decommissioned, and the Buguruslan-Severny airfield was mothballed. Before 2001, the An-40 fleet of airplanes in the school was over seventy units.

The school year in 2009 120 cadets received was also resumed the use of the airfield "Buguruslan-North", where educational flights on airplanes M-101T and the Cessna 172 produced.

The school year in 2012 80 people came, started training at DA-40.
