Meteor U.16

Most of the aircraft, which were produced by the British company Meteor, were gradually replaced with modern aircraft, which has a higher performance. Yet the old machines will not be charged and sent for upgrading to perform certain tasks. Most of the old aircrafts Meteor have been converted into educational or towing, also manufactures machines on the remote control, one of which was the aircraft Meteor U.16.

The Meteor U.16 unmanned vehicle was used to train the exercises as an air target for artillery and for testing new missile systems. This model, as a rule, was altered from single-seat variants of fighters. At the exercises with the use of radio controlled machine Meteor U.16 it was painted in bright colors for better and quicker detection. Also on board the UAV were installed video cameras, which made it possible to record the moment the missile hit the aircraft. Most often, the base model Meteor F.Mk-16 was used to create the radio controlled airplane Meteor U.8. These devices were most widely used at the Australian Woomera training ground.

As for the flight performance, this car could take off into the air with a maximum mass of 8,6 tons, while accelerating to 960 km / h. These figures were achieved through the use of a powerful power plant, which consisted of two engines TRD Rolls-Royce. At the same time, the device could rise to an altitude of 13 kilometers and fly thousands of kilometers of 1,5.
