Mi-54. A photo. History. Characteristics.

In 1992 the leadership of the Russian Federation has developed a "Program of development of Russian civil aircraft to 2000 years", according to which one of the highest priorities of helicopters carrying capacity was to be rotorcraft having this option within 1-1,3 tons. At that time in civil aviation there was an urgent need for operation of the helicopter, holding the average value of the load capacity between Mi and Mi-8-2.

Prior to that, such a device could be called Mi-4. His replacement had planned to take in the Soviet-Polish-3, but after the collapse of the USSR the process of delivery of equipment to the territory of our country has become problematic. Therefore, in the early 90-ies we decided to create an entirely new domestic medium-duty helicopter. Development tasked OKB. Mile. Already in 1992-m Moscow Helicopter Plant. Mil proposed the project of a similar machine, the construction of which had much in common with the Mi-4. The project is called Mi-54.

Purpose Mi-54 lay in the transportation of passengers and cargo in the cargo cabin and outside on the external sling. It can be used during the exploration of oil production, engage in rescue and sanitary operations, patrolling, aerial photography, etc.

Design

The structure of the power plant includes the engine Al 2-34, manufactured by NPO "Saturn-Cradle" (Rybinsk). Each engine has a capacity of about 1000 hp On the helicopter can also be installed engines Canadian firm Pratt-Whitney turboprop or forced TV-0-100.

The layout of the Mi-54 helicopter is based on a classical single-screw scheme, which has a four-bladed supporting screw with a diameter of 13,5 m and a four-blade steering screw with a diameter of 2,6 m. The nose part of the fuselage is occupied by a double cabin of pilots with a side door and equipment compartment. Closer to the center of the fuselage is a cargo cabin, which can accommodate up to 12 people. On the sides of the cabin are overall cargo hatchways, which are closed by sliding doors, fuel tanks are in the floor. Behind the cargo cabin, in the side of the tail, there is another fuel tank, an equipment compartment, and behind it a luggage compartment.

The special features of the technical image Mi-54 should include:

  • wide doors with cargo doors that create ease of handling and long loads;
  • Materials of construction in combination classical alloys and composite materials;
  • perfect aerodynamic configuration of the steering and the rotor;
  • the hub does not require lubrication;
  • a system for absorbing noise;
  • tightness of the fuel system during an emergency landing;
  • the presence of additional energy absorbing chambers rack chassis;
  • extra cushioning seat drivers and passengers;
  • air conditioning system.

Material fuselage made largely of conventional aluminum alloys. Composite materials are used in the construction of non-violent elements of the helicopter. Chassis Mi-54 non-retractable, tricycle, which has support on the front rack. Propeller blades are made of fiberglass. The main rotor hub made of titanium and is surrounded by elastomeric bearings. In general, low noise provides a small circumferential velocity at the end of the screw. Mi-54 has hydromechanical control system.

The basic model must be equipped with the following systems equipment:

  • dustproof device engines;
  • icing system;
  • cockpit heating system;
  • system of dual control;
  • flight control and navigation system for operations in reduced visibility;
  • satellite antenna;
  • autopilot increased functionality.

Takeoff weight rotorcraft was 4-4,5 m static ceiling for this unit - 2200 m, the maximum reach speeds in flight - 280 km / h. Based on the performance characteristics, reliability, safety and fuel efficiency, the Mi-54 surpasses all serial helicopters.

Security

The security system of the Mi-54 consists of the following features:

  • shock-absorbing landing gear;
  • perfect fuel system protection against leakage of fuel during an emergency landing;
  • dust engine components;
  • icing system;
  • on-board automatic system of regulation and control units of the helicopter;
  • system of measuring the mass of the helicopter;
  • an emergency start;
  • wide temperature range suitable for the operation.

Prospects

Program development of multipurpose light helicopter Mi-54 is one of the highest priorities in our time. Mi-54 13 capable of carrying passengers and cargo, the total weight of up to 1500 kg in the cargo compartment and exterior fuselage 1800 kg. The helicopter can carry not only passenger and cargo flights, but also be used as a corporate version to perform rescue and medical operations, patrolling coastal areas, VIP-transport, etc.

On the basis of Mi-54 planned to establish several military versions with weapons on board. Benefit from the development of the project in the first place is the efficiency of the fuel system and good performance maneuverability and control during flight. The helicopter is ideal for use in all regions of Russia because of the wide range of permissible air temperatures, which in turn should involve not only the defense industry, but also the domestic airlines. Many items that are now used in the design of the Mi-54, produced outside the country.

Helicopter involved in the program of development of civil aircraft, but at the moment the financing of the project is frozen. Mil is trying to lead the development at their own expense, while not losing hope to receive state investments.

In 2011 year at the St. Petersburg JSC "Klimov" started the development of a promising fifth-generation engine VC-800, which will be equipped with helicopters "ANSAT" and Mi-54. This at a press conference, said the general director of the association Vatagin Alexander.

"We increasingly expect to send their engines for the modernization of the Mi-54, but also huge hopes on" ANSAT "- said Mr. Vatagin, explaining that funding for the project has not yet been fully implemented and the expected approval from the customers. "To start a full-fledged investment, we need to see a buyer," - said General Director of JSC "Klimov".

In 2011 year it was made three test sample VC-800, one of whom began the first phase of pilot testing. The first flight on the new engine was made in 2012 year.

VC-800 - it is the fifth-generation turboshaft engine generating power within 500-800 hp, designed for helicopters with low and medium-duty single and twin-engine versions. In the future release of the modernized engine VC-800S that can be used on multi-purpose aircraft carrying capacity 1-1,5 tons.

JSC "Klimov" is a subsidiary of "Oboronprom". Therefore, the chances that the new engine still will be installed on the Mi-54, great. The competence of the company consists of development, series production and maintenance of helicopter engines and jet engines-destroyers.

The scheduled performance of the Mi-54:

  • Engine Type: VC-800V

  • Engine power: 2h800 hp

  • The length, width and height of the cargo compartment: 2,9h2,04h1,4 m

  • The length, width and height of the luggage compartment: 1,3h1,5h1 m

  • Main rotor diameter: 13,5 m

  • Maximum takeoff weight: 4500 kg

  • Airspeed

  • Maximum: 285 km / h

  • cruising: 257 km / h

  • Static ceiling: 3500 m

  • Dynamic ceiling: 6000 m
