A type: single-engine training aircraft

Crew: Two pilots are arranged one behind the other

For decades, it is known simply as "the creator of the pilots' plane T-6 / SNJ /« rapBapfl »(Harvard) from the category of world uchebnotrenirovochnogo aircraft became the most popular historic military aircraft in the world.

Created on the basis of the plane NA-16 (see in the aircraft section of the period between wars) and received the designation of the VS-1 at the beginning, this training aircraft was soon designated as AT-6 by the US Air Force. The improvement of Texan (Texan-Texan) aircraft coincided with the rapid growth of the US armed forces, and orders increased from 94 AT-6 aircraft required in 1939 to 3404 AT-6D aircraft in less than five years. In total, more than 17 LLC aircraft was built to train combat pilots of all specializations across the continental United States. Foreign customers also appreciated the merits of this solid training aircraft. The Royal Air Force showed interest already in June of the year 1938, when the British Procurement Commission placed an order for 200 aircraft of the Sun-1, baptized by Harvard I.

These aircraft were quickly transferred to units both in the United Kingdom and in Southern Rhodesia, and over the next seven years more than 5000 Harvard aircraft in five different versions were obtained by lend-lease and transferred to the Royal Air Force of Canada, New Zealand and the United Kingdom. Although the career of the T-6 aircraft (such designation was given to the aircraft after the war) in the US Air Force ended at the end of the 1950-ies, it remained the basic basic training aircraft for many countries around the globe and in the 1970. More than 350 aircraft T-6 are in a state of airworthiness. Most of them are based in North America.
