Kamov Open Joint Stock Company (former Kamov experimental design bureau, Ukhtomsk Helicopter Plant) - design bureau of the Russian Helicopters concern. It is famous as a designer of coaxial rotor helicopters. In addition, helicopters of a more traditional layout (of the Ka-62 type) are being designed.

Design Bureau named after Kamov was founded in early October 1948 year. This OKB is located near the capital of our state in the city of Lyubertsy. There is also a museum dedicated to the legendary designer and his projects. This enterprise is a part of the largest holding of our country "Helicopters of Russia". Since the beginning of its formation, the company has been engaged in designing and manufacturing helicopters of a wide variety of designs and purposes. The peculiarity of all aircrafts of this company was that almost all of them were equipped with coaxial screws. They were most effectively used by this company. In addition, helicopters with standard screws were developed. The civil helicopter Ka-62 became the most successful project.

The main activities of OKB Kamov

This organization was created to design and further create multipurpose helicopters with a wide range of applications. First of all, they were to be used for the Soviet Navy. With this factor in mind, the designers decided to use a coaxial arrangement of the screws on the aircraft. It allowed to achieve greater maneuverability and excellent controllability with small dimensions of the machine itself. The most successful models were helicopters of the Ka-27 type, which were designed to destroy surface targets. The Ka-29 model was made as a transport and combat vehicle, which can perform many tasks. For marine radar, designers designed a Ka-31 machine.

The most successful models have become machines, which were manufactured in 80-ies of the last century. First of all, they were attack helicopters Ka-50 titled "Black Shark". The preparation of the device for serial production was carried out by the followers of Kamov. Since 1974, the post of general designer was occupied by the student of Kamov, namely S.V. Mikheyev.

On the basis of Kamov development it has created a whole range of very high quality helicopters for different purposes for the military industry, as well as for the civil service. So, the most famous of the company's helicopters are such machines:
