The Maldives is an island state stretching from north to south for more than 750 km. It includes about 1 islands, and more than 000 of them are resorts, where our compatriots love to relax. Holidays in the Maldives are not cheap, and not only because of the high cost of accommodation in fashionable hotels. A significant share of the costs is for flights and transfers.
Transfer in Maldivian style – a separate topic for discussion. The geography of the Maldives does not allow the use of standard land transfer methods: everything here is either by sea or by air. The further from Male, or more precisely Velana International Airport, where all Russians fly, the more expensive and complicated the transfer.
Group transfer
Most tourists use the basic group transfer, which is included in the package price by default. Its main advantage is relative affordability (compared to a private transfer). The downside is the high probability of a long wait and a more complicated route.
Hydroplane
The most common transfer option in the Maldives is a seaplane flight. Tourists arrive in Male, are met and taken to the seaplane terminal by car. Waiting for the flight is usually comfortable: classy hotels either have their own VIP lounges or use common waiting rooms of the corresponding class.
However, seaplanes only fly during daylight hours, and if tourists arrive in Male later than 15.00:15.30–XNUMX:XNUMX, they will not be able to catch the seaplane. In addition, The seaplane transports guests to hotels along the route, which can significantly increase transfer time.
Airplane and speedboat
Many of the larger residential islands of the Maldives (usually the capitals of the atolls) have their own airports. Regular flights are organized between them and Male by both state and private carriers. Tourists arrive in Male, transfer to a domestic flight, fly to the local airport, from where they are picked up by a speedboat and transported to the hotel.
A combined transfer by plane and speedboat is usually used as an auxiliary one. Hotels reserve this option in case of a flight delay on which their guests arrive in Male. A combined transfer is always more complicated, but when there is no other way out and you really don’t want to spend the night in the capital, it will do.
Speedbot
Due to the considerable distance between the islands, boat transfers are only possible in some cases. They are generally offered only by hotels located in the Kaafu Atoll (North and South Male).
Speedboat transfers are much cheaper and faster than other options. Many luxury hotels, such as the Hilton Maldives Amingiri Resort & Spa, have comfortable speedboats that pick up guests from Male immediately upon arrival.
Private transfer
Particularly demanding guests can take advantage of the benefits of a private transfer. It is significantly more expensive, but many times more comfortable. Considering that a private transfer is paid for in full, for a group of 8-10 guests the difference in price will not be that great.
-
Hydroplane. Almost all resorts cooperate with private and state airlines, so there are no problems with organizing a private seaplane transfer - you just need to notify about its need in advance. The most luxurious resorts (for example, Soneva hotels) have their own seaplanes.
-
Speedbot. If desired, you can book a private transfer on a luxury boat. Indoor air-conditioned cabin, included drinks and chilled towels, service on board - all for the benefit of guests.
-
Yacht. The beginning of a holiday in the Maldives can turn into its decoration, especially if you order a private transfer on a yacht. The most fashionable resorts not only provide such an opportunity, but also have their own luxury yachts. For example, the luxurious Ritz-Carlton Maldives, Fari Islands, located in man-made archipelago near Male.
Even a long and complicated transfer is part of the trip to a tropical paradise. As soon as the plane lands in Male, you need to forget about everything and start relaxing!
