The Iranian unmanned aerial vehicle began to be designed in 2012 as an aerial military vehicle used for reconnaissance, as a means of conducting electronic warfare, and as a full-fledged combat unit. In fact, originally the drone was planned as an independent combat unit that could be stuffed with an explosive detonating either by an incoming signal or by collision with an object, which caused serious damage and could disable entire enemy units during the mass operation of this unmanned aerial vehicle. In the future, the design of the Raad UAV has undergone a number of important changes, due to which the scope of the operational capabilities of the drone has largely expanded, in particular, the device was used as an intelligence agent, patrol vehicle, and when installing special equipment, it could also conduct electronic warfare.

UAV has successfully been able to prove its effectiveness military applications, in particular, thanks to a sufficiently high speed of its movement, the device could carry out a surprise attack of the enemy, including disabling aircraft, armored vehicles and destroying large enemy forces, however, today drone increasingly used solely as an intelligence agent.

Raad UAV is equipped with a piston twin engine that allows drone to reach speeds of up to 150 km \ h., At the same time, the maximum effective range of the device is the flight 75 kilometers.
