Air maneuvering system: flights will become safer and more efficient

Since the first flight of the Wright brothers, aviation has undergone many changes, and to date, aircraft can travel not only for tens of kilometers, but also for hundreds, thousands and tens of thousands of kilometers, thereby allowing a non-stop flight from one corner of the globe in another.

As for the last decades, the aircraft practically did not undergo any changes in their design, except for the appearance, perhaps, but the British scientists are ready to make significant changes in the design of aircraft in the near future, which will make them more reliable and effective in terms of use.

Scientists from the University of Manchester have created a demonstration pilot unmanned aerial vehicle, which, perhaps, has no apparent external differences compared to conventional drones and aircraft, but in fact, this drone has a unique maneuvering system that in the near future will get rid of complex mechanisms in parts of the wings.

As follows from the information presented in the official reports, the MAGMA unmanned aerial vehicle, which is a small-sized aircraft, is equipped with special devices that distribute air along the contours of the wings, thereby forcing the drone to maneuver. As part of the tests, it was possible to prove that the new maneuvering system is more advanced and efficient than in the case of mechanical devices, moreover, such an approach allows increasing the maneuverability of aircraft, providing more opportunities. Among other things, the aircraft maneuvering system is simpler in terms of maintenance, which in turn can reduce the cost of operating the aircraft.

According to experts, the new technology can perfectly prove itself in both the civil and military spheres, however, it is possible to make more accurate forecasts only after approbation of a new air maneuvering system in real conditions, which is most likely for unmanned aerial vehicles in 2018, on manned aircraft - to 2022 year.

Despite the fact that from the technical point of view, the know-how itself is insignificant, in fact, such an approach can have an excellent impact on the safety of flights.
