Spectrum SA-550. Specifications. A photo.

Spectrum SA-550 - a single-engine airplane of American manufacturing, based on the model developed by another American aircraft manufacturer, Cessna Skymaster.

The aircraft designers of the American aircraft manufacturer Basler Turbo Conversions worked on the development of the Spectrum SA-550 aircraft, while the aircraft itself was presented in 1983, however, this model did not receive wide distribution due to the lack of sufficient interest among customers, which is why it was built only two aircraft, both of which are in service to this day.

Despite the fact that the plane was designed on the basis of a different model, ultimately, the aircraft is fundamentally different from it, and, not only in technical terms, but also in terms of appearance. In addition, thanks to a qualified approach of American aeronautical engineer, on board the aircraft significantly increased space, and the interior has been redesigned, so that, the aircraft seating capacity increased to 10 people, which in turn was to attract commercial air carriers.

In addition to passengers, the plane Spectrum SA-550 is also able to carry on his board and loads of total weight up to 998 kg. However, because of the limited edition, the aircraft actually used for this purpose.

A single Pratt & Whitney PT550A-6 turboprop aircraft engine is used as the power plant on the Spectrum SA-27 aircraft, capable of developing a pushing force of 550 hp, which in turn allows the aircraft to accelerate to a maximum flight speed of 420 km / h. In addition, the aircraft's powerful turboprop aircraft engine allows it to cover a distance of up to 1448 kilometers, which in turn makes it possible to operate the aircraft on local and interregional air routes.

One of the key features of the Spectrum SA-550 is the ability to take off from short runways. For takeoff, when the aircraft is fully loaded, the aircraft requires 137 meters of the runway, which in turn allows operating this aircraft model in hard-to-reach terrain, which was one of the reasons for the development of this aircraft.

One of the built Spectrum SA-550 aircraft is currently in operation in the United States, while the other, according to some reports, is in the possession of a Mexican airline carrying out local air travel.
