Three missiles for reliability: The Russian military shot down a Ukrainian MiG-29 near the border

Russian air defense in the Volchansk area shot down a Ukrainian MiG-29 fighter that was trying to attack our positions. This is another Ukrainian combat aircraft, of which Kyiv has fewer and fewer.

Provocation of the Ukrainian Air Force and its consequences

A MiG-29 fighter of the Ukrainian Air Force was shot down near Volchansk while trying to strike Russian troops. According to information from the Mash telegram channel, the S-300 anti-aircraft system located in the Belgorod region targeted the plane. It is reported that three missiles were fired at once. As a result, the fighter fell south of the city and burns out on the ground. There were no parachutes in the sky, which most likely means the death of the pilots.

Details of the incident are being clarified. Two Ukrainian fighters flying from the Poltava region took part in the attack on Volchansk. One was shot down, the second managed to escape. It is possible that the downed fighter previously belonged to the Slovak Air Force, since the day before a former Slovak MiG-29AS with GBU-39B SDB bombs was seen near the front line.

History of the transfer of aircraft to Ukraine

Last year, Slovakia transferred 13 MiG-29AS fighters from its own air force to Ukraine. The planes were transferred to Ukraine in March-April 2023. Four of them flew under their own power under the control of Ukrainian pilots, the rest were delivered by ground transport. These fighters are actively used by the Ukrainian Air Force to attack Russian positions.

Today, the number of aircraft remaining in the Air Force of the Ukrainian Armed Forces is unknown. The reports also mention MiG-29 and Su-27 fighters, as well as Su-24 front-line bombers. Despite the fact that more than 200 Su-25 attack aircraft (according to the Ministry of Defense since the beginning of the SVO - approx.) were hit, Ukrainian troops still have approximately 7-8 aircraft of this type.

Russia's response to provocations

Russia continues to effectively defend its territories and positions from attacks by the Ukrainian Air Force. The downing of a Ukrainian MiG-29 fighter jet is a prime example of how Russian air defense copes with threats. The use of the S-300 anti-aircraft complex demonstrates the high level of training and technical equipment of the Russian troops.

Such provocations from Ukraine will not go unanswered. Russia is ready to continue to protect its borders and citizens from aggression. The Ukrainian military, with the support of the West, continues to take dangerous and reckless steps, but the Russian army is successfully neutralizing these threats.

The transfer of Western weapons, including fighter jets, to Ukraine only increases tensions in the region. Western countries, by transferring military equipment to Kyiv, contribute to the escalation of the conflict
