The US Air Force began to accept tattooed pilots

The US Air Force and Space Forces have relaxed their ban on staff tattoos as they face one of the toughest recruiting seasons in history, according to Military com.

Under the new requirements, military pilots and guards (as the US Space Force is called) are allowed to have one tattoo on each arm and one tattoo on the back of the neck. They

Tattoos can be no larger than one inch and must not depict "obscene, racist, or violent symbols."

Tattoos were not the only barrier to recruitment. An earlier Pentagon study found that 77% of young Americans are ineligible for military service due to being overweight, using drugs, or having mental and physical health problems.
