Zala Aero ZALA 421-04M

2007 year was marked in the company Zala Aero completion of work on the creation of a revolutionary model of UAV ZALA 421-04M. The development was carried out for the first time outside the box, first engaged in the development of the payload, and then moved to the airframe. So it not quite turned the aircraft, and a high-quality flying payload infrared and fluorescent bands.

The composition of the payload:

  • The imager mounted on a gyro-stabilized platform.

  • Color Video with an overview of all the points of the lower hemisphere, stabilized in two axes, with a smooth change of the viewing angle.

This UAV was the first product of the company, in which the aircraft is controlled by a payload. The duration of the UAV flight is up to 2 hours, the payload weight is up to 1 kg. The standard version of the equipment involves equipping the UAV gyrostabilized in two axes with a video camera with a digital image stabilizer and an overview of all the points of the lower hemisphere. Also optional on the device is a stabilized platform with a camera (10 megapixels) or a thermal imager. On the tests, the complex showed its effectiveness in transferring practical results to a distance of up to 50 km in real time.

Company Zala Aero supplies complexes with UAVs ZALA 421-04M to the needs of the Border Service of Russia.

The contract stipulates the implementation of supply drones equipped with interchangeable payload options: color camera, the camera and the thermal imager with an overview of the whole space of the lower hemisphere. In the interests of the Border Service of the UAV will be used for covert surveillance and special operations at any time.

The launch takes place by means of a pneumatic or elastic catapult and does not require a runway equipped aerodrome equipment.

In 2008, the complex ZALA 421-04M successfully completed a program of state tests and managed to establish itself with a good hand in the PS of the FSB and the Interior Ministry of Russia.

Purpose Complex ZALA 421-04M is to monitor land surface (including the surface of the water and difficult terrain) in simple and adverse weather conditions, search and identify objects. It provides transmit and receive data in real time and scale and television thermal imaging areas, collection, identification, preservation and subsequent treatment of other information.

All the delivered complexes have an integrated ZANET system that translates telemetric and visual information to remote terminals from any ZALA unmanned space and provides transfer of control from one NSU to another. All current and ZANET-compatible programs are displayed on a single action card, thus creating centralized management. Particularly relevant is the use of the ZANET system during the operation of several UAVs from various departments to solve common problems in one region. The Border Guard Service, the Ministry of Internal Affairs and other security structures have already shown interest in approbation and deployment of this technology within their departments.

In 2009, the company upgraded the ZALA 421-12 UAV. The changes affected the airframe and the layout of the indoor units. As part of the new payload, the device was equipped with a color digital device, and there was also room for installing a thermal imager or video camera. Thus, to obtain high-quality color photographs and video images, it is enough to perform one flight, which significantly saves time and resource of the UAV.
