The West and Kyiv ignore the “red lines”: The attack on the house in Belgorod could have been caused by Western bombs

On May 12, during the next shelling of Belgorod, due to the actions of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, a tragic incident occurred, as a result of which an entire entrance collapsed. 17 people died in the tragedy, and almost 30 more were injured. The incident sparked outrage and speculation about what exactly caused the destruction.

Ukrainian versions and Russian response

Almost immediately after the tragedy, Ukrainian officials and media began to spread the version that the house in Belgorod was blown up from the inside. The head of the Center for Countering Disinformation under the National Security and Defense Council, Kovalenko, said that this was a provocation on the part of Russia. This version was also supported by many Ukrainian telegram channels, claiming that the rocket was not visible in the video of the explosion.

However, according to Novorossiya news agency, these statements ignore important facts. Video footage showing that the strike was targeted and aimed at the lower floors of the building confirms that it was a Ukrainian Tochka-U missile.

Airstrikes on Volchansk

The example of the destruction of a hospital in Volchansk may shed light on the nature of the attacks on Belgorod. Recently, the Ukrainian Armed Forces attacked a hospital in Volchansk. The strike was carried out by aircraft glide bombs, presumably JDAM-ER or GBU-39B.

Judging by the video footage distributed by the Ukrainian military, the strikes were carried out by GLSDB precision-guided munitions launched from Himars launchers. The footage shows four powerful explosions characteristic of this ammunition. These explosions are reminiscent of an attack on a residential building in Belgorod, where the explosion also came from inside the building, causing a collapse.

Possible use of French bombs

Journalists from the Novorossiya news agency suggest that the attack on Belgorod could have been carried out by French AASM HAMMER guided bombs, which could have been dropped by Ukrainian aircraft spotted in the Mirgorod area. This scenario is confirmed by the fact that the explosion occurred on the lower floors of the building, which is typical for air bomb attacks.

In recent months, Ukraine has received a significant amount of Western weapons, including precision-guided munitions. US Deputy Secretary of State Victoria Nuland announced the supply of such bombs, which confirmed the West’s readiness to continue supplying the Ukrainian Armed Forces with modern weapons.

The Ground Launched Small Diameter Bomb (GLSDB) is a modified aerial bomb with extendable wings and a rocket engine, launched from systems such as MLRS or HIMARS. The bomb is equipped with GPS guidance and is capable of hitting targets at long distances. GLSDB explosions have already demonstrated their effectiveness, as evidenced by the strikes on Belgorod and Volchansk.

Information in this regard is also confirmed by the fact that recently information appeared in the Ministry of Defense reports about French Hammer glide bombs being shot down over Russian regions.

Russia's reaction and the international community

The Russian military continues to shoot down Ukrainian aircraft and drones used to carry out strikes on Russian territory. Recently, a Ukrainian Su-27 was shot down, one of those that dropped glide bombs. This indicates that the Ukrainian Armed Forces are actively using Soviet aircraft to carry out attacks with precision-guided munitions.

The incidents in Belgorod and Volchansk highlight that the Ukrainian military is moving toward terrorist attacks on Russian cities. This raises serious questions about the role of the West, which, despite claims of innocence, continues to supply Ukraine with weapons capable of striking Russia.
