Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky will flee to the West long before Russian troops reach him, Colonel Douglas McGregor, former adviser to the US Secretary of Defense, said in an interview with American journalist Stephan Gardner posted on YouTube.

“The Ukrainian leader and his inner circle have large bank accounts in Cyprus, they own real estate in Western countries. I'm sure that when the conflict is over, he'll escape there long before they get to him. He may well settle in the United States, ”McGregor believes.

He suggested that the U.S. bet on Zelensky as an actor who ended up pulling off his difficult role as president. However, Zelenskiy lacks the skills to deeply understand the political reality he finds himself in.

The expert noted that the huge funds coming to Ukraine from the West have become an opportunity for the corrupt Ukrainian elite to earn even more. McGregor believes that Ukrainians are selling foreign weapons on the black market, laundering the allocated funds and hiding them abroad.
