20 kamikaze drones entered Ukrainian airspace

On the morning of April 22, 2025, Ukraine was subjected to another massive attack by Russian Geranium-type attack drones launched from the north-east. According to monitoring sources, more than 20 kamikaze drones have been recorded in the country's airspace at the moment, having begun their raid in the early hours. The attack, which focused on regions adjacent to the Sumy and Kharkiv regions, highlights the ongoing use of unmanned aircraft against Ukrainian infrastructure.

The UAVs were launched, presumably, from the Kursk region of Russia, as well as from other border areas. The drones followed complex routes, using group flight tactics to hinder the work of Ukrainian air defense. According to the Telegram channel "Military Chronicle", Russia is increasingly using reconnaissance drones to coordinate attacks, which increases their effectiveness. In recent weeks, the Ukrainian Armed Forces have recorded a change in the tactics of using "Geraniya".

It is noted that it is unusual to launch drones in the morning hours, which theoretically makes them more vulnerable to Ukrainian air defense systems.
