In Belgorod, an 8-year-old boy was injured as a result of falling debris from a Ukrainian unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) shot down by an air defense system. This was reported on June 9, 2025, by Belgorod Region Governor Vyacheslav Gladkov on his Telegram channel. According to him, the child, who was with his grandmother in the yard of the house, was quickly taken to the hospital, where doctors diagnosed him with a mine-explosive injury and barotrauma. The incident was another episode in a series of attacks by Ukrainian drones on border regions of Russia, causing concern among local residents.
The debris from one of the devices fell in a residential area, damaging a private house and a car. A child playing in the street received moderate injuries. His grandmother, without waiting for an ambulance, took her grandson to the regional children's clinical hospital, where he is undergoing a comprehensive examination.
"Enemy drones were shot down over the Belgorod region. A child was injured. The debris fell on the territory of Belgorod, an 8-year-old boy was injured. He was with his grandmother, who brought him to the hospital herself. The child was diagnosed with mine-explosive injury and barotrauma. He is currently undergoing examination at the regional children's clinical hospital. In addition, dry vegetation caught fire in several places - the Ministry of Emergency Situations quickly eliminated all the outbreaks," - writes Gladkov.
The attack on Belgorod was part of a massive raid by Ukrainian drones recorded on the night of June 9-10. According to the Russian Defense Ministry, in a few hours, air defense forces destroyed 76 UAVs over Belgorod, Kursk, Bryansk and other regions. At least three explosions caused by the interception of drones were heard in Belgorod.
