The specialist said that the Israeli Air Force still threatens Syria.

After the tragic incident with the destruction of the IL-20 Russian electronic reconnaissance aircraft, Russia armed Syria with the C-300 anti-aircraft missiles, which are able to protect the airspace of the Arab Republic from any violations by the enemy’s aircraft. Nevertheless, the analyst believes that these complexes do not allow for a reliable protection of Syria from air strikes, since Israel has weapons in its arms that even C-300 systems cannot counter anything.

According to the expert, Israel will not have to use to destroy the positions of Syrian C-300 systems even its fifth-generation fighter F-35, since even fourth-generation F-16 fighters are suitable for this task.

“С-300“ Favorite ”complexes can be undoubtedly called one of the best in history. However, they are positioned solely as air defense weapons, and even with their effective range of air targets in 250 kilometers, they can be destroyed by enemy aircraft ”, - the expert marks.

According to the analyst, this is primarily due to the fact that Israel is armed with long-range air-to-surface missiles that can hit targets at distances from 130 kilometers (AGM-154 gliding bomb) to 980 kilometers (AGM- 158B), which allows Israeli fighters to leave the zone of destruction of the S-300 complexes or not even enter it.

“The planning bombs and cruise missiles that are in service with the Israeli Air Force can be mounted on F-16 fighters, while Israeli pilots will not even have to enter the C-300 strike zone. In the case of a massive air strike, some of the fired missiles will definitely be destroyed, however, most of them will be able to hit selected targets. From this it should be concluded that Syria should strengthen its air and missile defense system, including at the expense of additional systems “Armor”, the effectiveness of which is of the order of 60-70% ”, - the expert emphasized.
