The militants plan to attack the Russian military airbase "Khmeimim" with missiles.

Several days ago it became known that the Syrian militants currently holding the southwestern part of the Syrian Arab Republic are armed with long-range surface-to-surface missiles. This rather formidable weapon can hit targets at distances of up to 200 kilometers, which, according to military analysts, allows the militants to strike at the Russian Khmeimim airbase, which terrorists will certainly take advantage of at the first opportunity.

It is known that the terrorists of the Southern Front have at least six Maysalun missiles (a copy of the Iranian rocket Zelzal-2 - ed.) Mounted on the Kamaz platform. Solid-fuel missiles can strike at distances of about 200 kilometers, and given the fact that the territory controlled by the militants is from the Russian military airbase "Khmeimim" at about the same distance, radical Islamists may well inflict a powerful blow on the Russian military.

On the other hand, at present, modern weapons are used in the arsenal of the Russian military stationed in Syria, which enable the interception of missiles, in particular, the Pantsir-S missile system, the S-300 air defense system, and, possibly, the S-400 SAM system "Triumph", in connection with which it is only a potential danger.

It should be clarified that the militants have already made several attempts to attack the Russian military airbase "Khmeimim", but none of them has succeeded - unmanned aircraft launched by terrorists were shot down on the approach.
