The airline "Aeroflot", due to problems with visas, appealed to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Transport

The validity of visas for airliner crews expires in a few months.

Aeroflot is the only company in Russia that conducts regular flights between Russia and the United States. Its leadership has filed a request to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Transport regarding problems with obtaining American visas by pilots and other crew members. This was reported by the airline's press service.

"There is an acute problem - the crews are denied visas, so we asked the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Transport. According to our estimates, there are enough visas to keep flights for several months " - specified the press service of the carrier.

The company does not exclude that flight attendants and pilots with open American visas will work "in the processing mode".

The press service of the Ministry of Transport of the Russian Federation states that they have not yet received an appeal from the airline.

The existence of a problem with obtaining visas at the Russian Foreign Ministry was discussed back in December 2017. Then the Kremlin accused Washington of "massively dragging out" issuing American visas for Aeroflot personnel. Back to the topic were returned in the spring. Consul General of the USA Laurence Toby in an interview with Nezavisimaya Gazeta reported that, because of the reduction in the number of diplomats from the US in Russia, visas will only be issued to mission members at the UN and Russian diplomats at the request of the Foreign Ministry.

"We are not going to disrupt Aeroflot's work using visas, we do not do that", - said Toby. According to him, everything depends on the "capacity of the American diplomatic mission." Later, the airline confirmed the problem of obtaining US visas by the crews of its aircraft.

19 April, the Russian Foreign Ministry issued a statement that due to visa problems with Aeroflot employees, air communication between Russia and the United States could be severed.

In its efforts to help the Russian airline, the agency refers to the current Russian-American Air Services Agreement of 1994, according to which countries must provide visas to aircraft personnel in advance.

On Friday, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said that he shares the concerns of the Foreign Ministry and "would not like such a development of events (the termination of flights between Russia and the United States."

Well, make the Aeroflot staff and all business diplomats! )
