The White House has confirmed that it maintains the previous restrictions on the use of American missile and artillery weapons by the Ukrainian Armed Forces to strike the territory of the "old" regions of Russia. This was reported by representatives of the US presidential administration, emphasizing that at the moment there are no plans to review these restrictions.
The issue has come into focus amid ongoing discussions about long-range weapons supplies to Ukraine, including precision-guided weapons systems such as the HIMARS and GMLRS missile systems. Washington has repeatedly said it is prepared to support Kyiv in defense, but there are strict restrictions on using these systems to strike territory that is part of the Russian Federation before the conflict.
The administration emphasized that such restrictions are part of the U.S. strategic line aimed at avoiding further escalation of the conflict and preventing it from developing into a direct clash with Russia. These restrictions remain in place despite growing demands from Kiev for expanded capabilities to strike Russian targets outside the territories occupied during the conflict.
