President of Ukraine Vladimir Zelensky announced plans to create Ukrainian military commandant's offices in the territories of the Kursk region occupied by the Armed Forces of Ukraine. According to him, such commandant’s offices can be created “if necessary” to ensure order and coordination of actions in the territories controlled by the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
Just a year ago, in an interview with the Argentine publication La Nación, Zelensky argued that Ukraine does not intend to enter Russian territory. Then he emphasized that Kyiv’s main goal is to return lost territories, and not to engage in military operations on Russian soil. However, current events and Zelensky's statements indicate a significant change in the strategy of the Ukrainian leadership in the context of the ongoing conflict.
