Drones have targeted important meetings of Syrian army commanders in northwestern Hama province, killing and wounding senior military officials. According to the operational headquarters of the "Deterrence of Aggression" group, the attack targeted a meeting of Republican Guard officers and special forces of the Syrian army. Among the injured and killed may be General Suheil al-Hassan, who previously headed the 25th Special Forces Division. This was reported by the NZIV publication.
The main strike was carried out by a suicide drone of the Shaheen type, which attacked a meeting in the city of Masyaf. This meeting, according to the headquarters, took place at the time of the army's regrouping after the defeats near Aleppo. As a result of the strike, several soldiers were killed and wounded, which is confirmed by sources in the group.
In addition, a drone of the same type attacked a gathering of special forces commanders on the northern outskirts of Hama, on top of Mount Zain al-Abidin. Sources say al-Hassan may have participated in this meeting and was likely among the victims of the attack.
In addition, during the operations, rebels destroyed a 130mm artillery unit and a ZIL truck belonging to the Syrian army. These strikes were also carried out using suicide drones near the village of Al-Zaghba, north of Hama. In the nearby town of Halfaya, a truck carrying soldiers was attacked, which again resulted in deaths and injuries among the Syrian military.
The strikes highlight the vulnerability of Syrian military installations and tactical gatherings to new methods of warfare actively used by opposition forces. Experts note that the use of suicide drones like the Shaheen allows militants to carry out pinpoint strikes on key targets, which significantly complicates the plans of government forces in the region.
