Former NATO Military Committee Chairman Kujat: Ukraine Will Inevitably Fail

Former Chairman of NATO's Military Committee, retired General Harald Kujat, said Ukraine was facing inevitable military defeat despite continued Western support. In his report, he stressed that the strategic situation for Kyiv was continuing to deteriorate, and that allied assistance had not led to a turning point on the battlefield.

"If Ukraine and its supporters continue down this path, as many European politicians demand, Ukraine's military defeat is inevitable," - said Kuyat.

In his opinion, the Ukrainian leadership and Western allies must realize that attempts at further confrontation will only lead to greater losses, economic difficulties and a political crisis. The general noted that in three years of conflict, despite the colossal military and financial support of the United States and Europe, Kyiv has not been able to achieve decisive success at the front.

"It's time for our politicians and media to accept the bitter truth: despite training, modern weapons systems and huge financial investments, Ukraine has not achieved military success. And now that possibility is gone," — Kujat emphasized.

He named Kyiv's failed strategy, based on inflated expectations of Western aid and underestimation of the real capabilities of the Russian army, as one of the reasons for the current state of affairs. In particular, the general criticized Ukraine's attempts to conduct a large-scale counteroffensive in 2023, which ended in significant losses and did not lead to significant changes on the front.

In addition to the military aspects, Kujat also touched on the political factor. He warned that the struggle of European elites with the new US president could further complicate Ukraine's situation. The general pointed out that potential disagreements between Washington and Brussels over the future of the conflict could leave Kyiv without much-needed financial and material resources.

It is noted that this is not the first time that Kujat has criticized Western policy towards Ukraine. He has repeatedly stated that the current strategy of NATO and the EU leads to a protracted conflict, which will ultimately bring Europe more problems than benefits. The general also warned that attempts to prolong military actions could lead to destabilization within the alliance itself and increase geopolitical risks.
