Former military pilot reports possible loss of Su-57 fighter jet

Former Russian pilot Ilya Tumanov spoke about the recent incident with the loss of a heavy attack stealth drone "Okhotnik" over the territory of Ukraine, emphasizing that what happened could have serious consequences for the defense industry and the Armed Forces.

According to him, the Okhotnik was painted in serial camouflage, which indicates its status as a full-fledged combat model rather than an experimental one. This makes the loss of the drone especially significant, since the technologies used in this device could have been transferred to the enemy. Tumanov emphasized that the fall of the drone on the territory controlled by Ukrainian troops gives them the opportunity to study in detail the design and internal systems of the Okhotnik, which could play into Ukraine's hands in further developments and the fight against military equipment.

"Those who get their hands on this drone will disassemble it down to the last screw and, of course, get acquainted with its rich internal contents.", Tumanov noted in his statement.

An even more alarming situation, according to the pilot, is the fact that the Su-57 fighter jet accompanying the Okhotnik was also in the risk zone. According to him, both aircraft were flying at a high altitude, which makes them vulnerable to air defense systems, including portable air defense systems (MANPADS). Tumanov expressed concern that not only the Okhotnik but also the Su-57 could have been lost, which would have radically changed the balance of power.

"We could have lost not only the Okhotnik, but also the Su-57 escort. And that's a completely different scenario."“,” Tumanov added, pointing out the possible strategic consequences.
