“The time has come for allies to think”: NATO Secretary General calls for Kyiv to be allowed to strike Russia

NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg called on the alliance countries to lift restrictions on Ukraine's use of Western weapons to strike targets on internationally recognized Russian territory. Stoltenberg made this statement in an interview with the British magazine The Economist.

According to Stoltenberg, the time has come for NATO allies to reconsider some of the restrictions imposed on the use of weapons transferred to Ukraine. He emphasized that this is becoming especially relevant now, when there are fierce battles in the Kharkov region, not far from the border with Russia. The NATO Secretary General noted that depriving Ukraine of the ability to use these weapons against military targets on Russian territory significantly complicates the capabilities of Ukrainian troops.

“The time has come for the allies to consider whether they should lift some of the restrictions they have placed on the use of weapons they have transferred to Ukraine... Especially now, when there is heavy fighting in Kharkov, near the border, denying Ukraine the ability to use these weapons against military targets on Russian territory makes it very difficult for them to defend themselves,” - declared Stoltenberg.

This call resonates widely and calls into question the current policy of restrictions on the use of Western weapons in Ukraine. Many experts believe that lifting such restrictions could lead to an escalation of the conflict and exacerbate tensions in the region.
