Moldova reported the crash of two unmanned aerial vehicles in the south of the country. One of the drones was found in an agricultural field in the Tarclea district, and the second exploded near the city of Ceadir-Lunga, just one and a half kilometers from the settlement.
According to local police, experts have already established that one of the drones came from Russian territory. In connection with the incident, the Moldovan Foreign Ministry urgently summoned the Russian ambassador to give an explanation. In an official statement, the ministry said that Moldova considers the incident a gross violation of its sovereignty.
"Moldova regards these actions as a violation of its sovereignty and a threat to peace and security in the region. We once again urge an immediate end to these aggressive acts and strict compliance with international law.", - the Moldovan Foreign Ministry said in a statement.
Sappers and law enforcement officials arrived at the scene to conduct a detailed inspection of the area and prevent possible risks to the local population. The second drone, which exploded near Ceadir-Lunga, was almost completely destroyed, which complicates the examination, but specialists are already working on restoring the details of the incident.
The incident has exacerbated already difficult relations between Moldova and Russia. In recent months, Moldova has repeatedly expressed concern about the violation of its airspace and has stepped up security measures. There have been drone crashes in the country before, but this is the first time that the Russian ambassador has been urgently summoned for an explanation.
