Tu-95MS crews performed a flight over the waters of the Barents and Norwegian seas

Two Tu-95MS strategic missile carriers of the Russian Aerospace Forces carried out a planned flight over the neutral waters of the Barents and Norwegian Seas, which lasted more than five hours. A statement from the Russian Ministry of Defense indicates that the pilots were accompanied by Su-35S fighters throughout the mission. In addition, on certain sections of the route the missile carriers were escorted by fighters from other countries.

“The flight duration was more than five hours. Fighter escort was provided by the crews of Su-35s aircraft of the Aerospace Forces. At certain stages of the route, the strategic missile carriers were accompanied by fighters from foreign countries.”, - the report says.

Lieutenant General Sergei Kobylash, commander of long-range aviation, emphasized that the flight was carried out in full compliance with international rules for the use of airspace. He also noted the regularity of such flights over international waters in various regions, including the Arctic, North Atlantic, Pacific Ocean, as well as the Black and Baltic Seas, emphasizing the importance of these missions for ensuring the country's security and defense capabilities.
