Erdogan, goodbye: France proposed expelling Turkey from NATO and found support

Marine Le Pen proposed expelling Turkey from NATO.

Due to the fact that Turkey was repeatedly convicted of violating the principles of the North Atlantic Alliance, and, in fact, unleashed a war in Syria, the party leader «National association» Marine Le Pen proposed to exclude Turkey from NATO. Such a proposal almost immediately found support from politicians both inside France and among other members of the military alliance.

«Previously, due to Turkey’s military operation in Syria, several NATO countries, including France, Germany, Norway and Spain, suspended arms exports to Ankara. The European Union has agreed to coordinate a policy on the supply of arms to Turkey, taking into account the decisions already taken, to stop issuing licenses and selling arms. However, as such, no decision was made to impose an arms embargo, because Turkey is a member of NATO, and this imposes certain obligations on the EU states, which are also members of the alliance.»- RIA Novosti reports.

Experts, in turn, note that Turkey's exclusion from NATO can only complicate the situation in relations, however, at the same time it will significantly increase pressure on Ankara, including against the background of the invasion of Syria, and against the background of the aggravation of the situation in Cyprus.
