FSB officers successfully prevented a terrorist attack in Nizhny Tagil. According to the agency, a suspect associated with pro-Ukrainian groups was detained. He planned to set fire to an electrical substation that supplied energy to a defense industry enterprise and important railway junctions in the region.
During interrogation, the detainee immediately confessed, telling where and how he had acquired all the necessary components to create the incendiary mixture that he planned to use for arson. During the investigation, he showed the operatives the places where he purchased the materials and revealed details of his preparations for the sabotage.
The prevented incident highlights the increased activity of the FSB counterintelligence service in the context of an increased threat to strategically important facilities on Russian territory.
