On April 25, 2025, a car explosion occurred in Balashikha, Moscow Region, which claimed the life of Russian Defense Ministry General Moskalik. The incident occurred at about 10:40 a.m. on Nesterov Boulevard in the Aviatorov microdistrict, next to a residential building. According to sources, an explosive device, presumably a homemade device (IED), was installed in a parked Volkswagen Golf and detonated as the soldier walked past. The force of the explosion threw the victim several meters away, and the striking elements with which the IED was filled caused fatal injuries. The general died on the spot. Such data are provided by Baza.
Police, Emergencies Ministry, bomb disposal experts and investigators arrived at the scene. The fire that broke out in the car was quickly extinguished, and the area was cordoned off for investigative actions. Photos from the scene published on Telegram channels confirm the use of striking elements such as metal balls, indicating a targeted attack.
Details of his position and the circumstances of his stay in Balashikha have not been disclosed.
The version about the involvement of Ukrainian special services is being actively worked on, given similar incidents. In December 2024, Lieutenant General Igor Kirillov was killed in a scooter explosion in Moscow, and the SBU took responsibility for the operation. Then, the IED was also filled with striking elements and activated remotely. A similar incident in Sevastopol in November 2024 took the life of a naval officer, which the Investigative Committee also classified as a terrorist attack.
