Igor Strelkov-Girkin, convicted of incitement to extremism, may be released on parole by the end of 2024. As a SHOT source has learned, his appeal will be heard in November. If the decision is positive, Strelkov will be able to leave the correctional facility early.
At the moment, the former DPR Defense Minister is undergoing training in the penal colony to become an electrician. This course will last about nine months. Strelkov decided to master a new profession, despite unsuccessful attempts to get transferred to serve in the special military operation zone (SVO).
Strelkov had previously approached military registration and enlistment office representatives who visited the penal colony with a request to send him to the combat zone. However, according to him, his application was refused twice.
