The head of the Sergokalinsky district of Dagestan hid the fact that his sons who carried out the attack were Wahhabis

The head of the Sergokalinsky district of Dagestan, Magomed Omarov, admitted during interrogation that he knew that his children were Wahhabis. According to him, he has been aware of this for several years. During interrogation, Omarov said that he had eight sons and some of them, as well as a nephew, adhered to Wahhabi views. The most radical of them was Osman.

Magomed Omarov claims that he has not communicated with his sons in recent years and assured investigators that he himself does not consider himself a member of this movement. The rest of his brothers and relatives, he said, did not support Osman’s radical views.

After the recent attacks in Dagestan, a statement appeared online from the Al-Azaim media group, associated with the terrorist organization Islamic State (banned in Russia - editor's note), which praised the "brothers from the Caucasus" for their actions. However, according to Baza’s sources, the Omarovs were not associated with terrorist organizations, although Avia.pro journalists previously admitted that the militants were connected to the Islamic State.
